Update on Sunshine Centre CARF Accreditation

We are pleased to share that our Sunshine Centre CARF Accreditation process (on June 24 and 25, 2016) went smoothly! CARF will make a final decision on our accreditation results later in the summer/early fall. At this date, we’d like to share some of the informal feedback and comments that the surveyors made while onsite at Luther Village.

The surveyors spoke with resident family members as part of the accreditation process.  In these interviews, family members emphasized the high degree of competence of Luther Village staff. We sincerely appreciate this feedback. It is our goal to serve residents to a high standard.

Residents that were interviewed said that they love the new fitness equipment; mentioned how many meaningful activities are offered and posted in a variety of places; appreciated that the Sunshine Dining Room staff know individual residents’ needs; and valued the way the Wellness Centre is mindful of all components of well-being. They also mentioned that for new residents, the orientation material is comprehensive and reflects the overall friendliness and warmth of Luther Village.

We were so delighted when the surveyors told us that they really had the sense that it was clear that all the staff care about the residents and that the feel of the Luther Village community is one of a happy place to live!

We want to give a huge thank you to all the residents, their family members and friends, staff, and third party service providers who took part in this process. You did a wonderful job just being yourselves! We would especially like to thank Sherrie Hyde, Risk Manager, for her superior work in managing the entire accreditation process, as well the Luther Village Continuous Quality Improvement Committee and other staff who supported with preparation. Thanks again to all for making the Sunshine Centre at Luther Village on the Park a great place to live and work!
