As the new year begins, the Wellness team would like to reflect on some highlights from December and the Holiday season:
December was filled with music and treats as we enjoyed holiday festivities throughout the month. Our musical variety included Celtic music, traditional holiday carols with children from the Beckett School at Laurier, German Christmas carols, carols by candlelight as well as our very own Singing Group and regular entertainers.
Our Chaplain led the Colours of Christmas event which brought residents together in recognizing the variety of emotions the season can bring. Participants had the opportunity to write a message on ornaments to loved ones missed at this time of year and decorate the Memory Tree with love.
The Village Leadership team were delighted to host a Christmas Party for residents, where they had the opportunity to enjoy homemade eggnog, hot apple cider, and hors d’oeuvres. It was a great way to spend time together as the holidays were drawing near.
We closed the year off with a New Year’s Cocktail party where residents enjoyed shrimp cocktail, dessert and sparkling champagne while being entertained by the talented Paul McLeod.
As we look to the New Year, our focus for January is mental health, wellness and self-care where residents will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of information sessions, entertainment to boost winter moods and to pet a pooch with our pet therapy dog visit!
