We welcomed Sweet Lou’s Cookies to our treat cart, and we’ll certainly need to have them back soon. Our DJ: JOY and pink lemonade dance party was a blast as we were up on our feet and dancing to classics and favorites! And of course, the Elvis Tribute show brought us back in time as we sang our favorite Elvis songs.
We had many residents join us for our New Resident Meet N’ Greet as we welcomed our neighbors to the community and got to know each other and the services offered in our wonderful community.
In the spirit of JOY! Residents participated in The 'Kindness Rocks Project' of painting rocks with kind messages and bright colours to brighten up the lives of those around them! Participants spent the afternoon reflecting on gratitude and the important people in their lives.
We had a day full of music and theatre as some residents enjoyed an outing to the Drayton Theatre for the musical Kiss Me Kate while others stayed behind and enjoyed a beautiful opera performance in the Chapel.
Our kitchen reveal was a wonderful time to get together and celebrate our new community space that will offer new and fresh programming with a culinary twist. We enjoyed some pies donated by Sweet and Savory Pies as we caught a first glimpse of our new kitchen. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!
Our JAVA music program has been very well received and we are offering this program on both the Sunshine Centre and Memory Care floor. We’ve added an additional evening JAVA which has also been well attended including families. We will start offering the next phase of our JAVA suite, JAVA Mentor, in early November, stay tuned!
We are fortunate to have Help Mobility join us a couple of times a year to offer a complimentary check-up on resident mobile devices. This time we had 20 residents seen, 21 walkers and 1 wheelchair received a general maintenance check - making sure brakes were working properly and adjusted if needed, wheels were rolling smoothly, back rests were snug.
What better way to wrap up August than with a community bonfire and S’mores and some great stories!
