Summer is certainly flying by; here are the Wellness highlights for the month of July!
July brought a focus on different species with two presentations: Birds of Southern Ontario by Songbird Biologist Dr. Lyle Friesen, and Snakes Around the World with Brian Krigner.
Canada Day celebrations provided an opportunity for us to review the history of Canada through our display in the Sunshine Centre. In the afternoon, we were delighted by our own staff, Johanna, on guitar with accompaniment, as they played our favourite Canadian folk songs while we snacked on maple ice cream bars.
We enjoyed several other performances and a variety of activities throughout the month. We happily welcomed our furry friends from the National Service Dogs and participated in discussions on various health-related topics, including embracing change and adaptability, current cancer screening guidelines, and brain health and sleep.
We had the opportunity to find those perfect earrings when our jewelry vendor set up a display in the Atrium. This was followed by a card-making workshop where we learned to make our own cards using beautiful papers and pressed flowers. Residents in Memory Care enjoyed making their own ice-cream, perfect for a summer day!
